For the last few weeks, I’ve been going to a new camera club. This is unusual for me as I’m not usually great with people I don’t know. However in this case I do know some of the members and the ones that I don’t have been very welcoming and I’m already feeling comfortable.
Anyway, the club have arranged for some models to come in tonight so my camera is in the boot., I nearly forget to bring it with me. As I haven’t pre-checked my equipment I don’t know what state my batteries are in or my Lume Cube lamp. On arrival, I’m asked to help erect the softboxes, nothing stressful there as I do it all the time when covering weddings at the nighttime shenanigans.
All the lights were set up the models arrived and the first thing that went wrong for me at least, they brought Snakes with them. I don’t do snakes, Eels I can deal with being a fisherman but snakes are a different thing and if they bring out any spiders there will be a Charlie-shaped hole in the wall. Thomas assures me he’s left the spiders at home, phew but I still have to deal with snakes.
Time to shoot and I have no trigger for the softboxes, the batteries for my flash gun are all dead and so is my Lume Cube, (message to self you’re a dick) don’t go anywhere without checking your equipment before you go.
Despite everything that didn’t go as planned I am reasonably happy with the results of the shoot. I’ll be better prepared next time.
Thank you to Thomas, Victoria & Danni for your time and patience.
