The Cut

‘The Cut’ was the original motorway that drove the industrial revolution. The cut was also where I felt relaxed and at home. Crisscrossing the UK are over 2000 miles of navigable canal, all dug by hand by the ‘Navvies’.

Canals were an engineering marvel and still are to this day. Through hills or over them, canals connected the industrial towns to the ports. For me, the canal was a place to play, swim and fish. A place to learn about life and enjoy the great outdoors.

Childhood may be behind me, but my love of the cut is still as strong today as it was then.
