A beautiful, candid close-up portrait highlighting natural details and genuine emotion in an unposed, relaxed setting

relaxed natural Portrait Photography

natural images that feel like a conversation

International Peer-Awarded Portraiture in South Wales

Portrait photography: there’s something about it that makes people feel uncomfortable and nervous. At the sight of a camera, they feel compelled to pose in an awkward, unnatural manner. You’ve seen it yourselves when you snap someone on your smartphone; straight away they pull a pose. It’s the main reason I stayed away from portrait photography for so long.I don’t do posed photos; in fact, I hate them, and if I can avoid it, you won’t get to see a camera until we are friends. I want to take my time to get to know you and find out what makes you tick and what makes you laugh. I want our sessions to feel and look like a conversation between two friends. At that point, you won't be aware that I am actually taking your photo.

I don't do posed photography

moving beyond the stiff, artificial smile. A candid portrait focusing on natural light and authentic personality.

My approach to portraiture completely strips away the forced staging, stiff setups, and predictability. Instead of making you perform for the lens, my sessions are entirely collaborative and relaxed.

We’ll just explore a location, chase the natural light, and focus on capturing the honest, compelling details that make a portrait truly stand out.

Whether you're a creative professional, an artist, or just need honest images that capture who you actually are, you will leave our session with a collection of striking, timeless portraits that feel entirely real.

Candid portraits

Sometimes posed portraits are a necessary evil.

Sometimes formal portraits are a necessary evil; they can’t be avoided. These are usually for professional people and the like.

However, even though these individuals know how to pose for the camera, I still like to keep things light-hearted and as natural and relaxed as possible.

Being a formal portrait doesn’t mean it can’t be an enjoyable experience for both of us. The client has to feel at ease with me to enable them to get the best from me and vice versa.
