The imperial march

Here she comes, ladies and gentlemen i give you the bride

The moment has arrived, what everyone has been waiting for?

The Wedding Grand Entrance or Imperial March, whatever you want to call it. There is usually so much pomp in the wedding march that it may as well be the Imperial March. At times I turn around expecting to see a figure in black striding up the aisle followed by the Imperial Guards instead of bridesmaids.

It’s the time where practically everyone gets to see the bride for the first time and gives a collective Ahhhhh! Doesn't she look lovely? Every bride is gorgeous on their big day; that's not to say that they're not any other day, either. But how would I know what they look like first thing in the morning? For all I know they could look like a bulldog chewing a wasp when they wake up (and if they did, I'd never tell).

With the amount weddings cost these days, Mum & Dad will be lucky if they can ever retire once it’s all been paid for. When you announced that you were getting married, of course your parents were overjoyed, but in the back of their minds they could see the dream of cruising around the world disappear quicker than the bank balance. Never mind going on a cruise; they’d be lucky if they had enough to hire a rowing boat on the local park lake.

So when the night time shenanigans begin, you’ll maybe look favourably on mum and dad being a wee bit squiffy; after all, they just fed close to or maybe more than, 100 people, not once but twice in the same day. But their little girl/boy is happy, and to them that’s all that matters, so a rowing boat trip around the local park lake doesn’t seem so bad now.

Advisory

'Hey, I worked my arse off taking these photos. I'll be buggered if I'm going to let you ruin them by viewing them on a poxy mobile screen'.If you would like to see my work in all its glory, view it on a big screen!

Looking Back on the day

When they look back at the photos of the day, they’ll smile at the memories of the day; they’ll wet themselves laughing at Uncle Dave throwing shapes on the dance floor. That’s what Uncle Dave will call it, but actually he's just trying to walk back to his table after going to answer a call of nature.
